What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Lakeside Christian Fellowship based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

the INSPIRED SCRIPTURES

The Bible, both Old and New Testament, is the inspired and infallible revelation of God to man and the supreme authority of faith and conduct. (II Timothy 3:13-17)

THE ONE TRUE GOD

The one true God has revealed Himself as the “I Am,” the Creator and Redeemer of mankind.  We believe God eternally exists in three persons called the Trinity: God is the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 43:10-11, 44:6; John 14:16-17)

THE DIETY OF JESUS

Jesus is the Christ, the eternal Son of the Living God, the Savior of men, and God in the flesh. He is equal in status and equally divine with the Father and Holy Spirit and seeks to be the Lord of every Christian. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death on the cross, burial, resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God the Father where He now sits in Glory as our Mediator. His return will be visible and personal. (John 1:1; Isaiah 7:14, Luke 1:27-33; Matthew 28:5-6; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4)

The Fall OF MAN

Man was created in the image of God - good and upright; however, man voluntarily sinned and fell, and thereby, is spiritually dead and separated from God. (Genesis 1: 26-27, 3:6; Romans 3:23, 5:12-14)

THE ETERNAL Salvation OF MAN

Man’s only hope is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is by faith through grace alone and is demonstrated in repentance and surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ. This free gift is an eternal relationship with Jesus Christ. (John 3:3; Romans 5:15-19; Ephesians 2:8-9)

The BAPTISM Of THE Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is equal in status and equally divine with the Father and Son. He is God’s promised Spirit of power living in all Christians after salvation. The Holy Spirit was sent after Jesus’ ascension to empower, guide and comfort believers in carrying the Gospel to the whole earth. It imparts specific spiritual gifts to each believer and convicts the world of sin and the believers of righteousness. (Acts 1:4-5, 8; John 14:16, 26; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11)

SANCTIFICATION

We believe a Christian is called to walk after the Spirit, separating oneself from that which is evil and dedicating oneself to God and that which is good, upright, and morally pure. The Christian is a new creation in Jesus Christ. (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 5:22-25)

GENDER, MARRIAGE, SEXUALITY

We believe that God wonderfully and unchangeably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. One’s gender is determined by God at conception and cannot be changed through thoughts or procedures. We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning and is sanctioned by God which joins one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union as defined in Scripture. We believe God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman married to each other.  We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged outside of this defined marriage.  We believe any form of sexual immorality is sin.  We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. We believe every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity. (Genesis 1:27-28, 2:23-24)

the church and its mission

The church is the representative of Jesus on earth and consists of the believers, and not the physical building. Its mission is to carry out the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19)

DIVINE HEALING

Is provided for today by the Scriptures and included in the atonement for our sins. Healing encompasses the spiritual, physical, emotional and mental aspects of man. (Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; James 5:14-16)

THE BLESSED HOPE AND THE SECOND COMING

The resurrection and rapture of all Christians dead and alive to meet Christ in the air is the Blessed Hope. The Second Coming of Christ includes the rapture and return to earth by Christ with His saints for a thousand-year reign. (Zechariah 14:5; Romans 8:23; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52; Matthew 24:21-22)

THE FINAL JUDGEMENT

There will be a final judgment at which all men will be judged and found to be saved or lost.  The saved shall live eternally in conscious blessedness with God in Heaven.  The unsaved shall live eternally in conscious punishment, separated from God in Hell. (Matthew 25:46, Revelation 19:20)

THE NEW HEAVEN AND EARTH

All of God’s children will reign forever in a new heaven and a new earth. (2 Peter3:13; Revelation 21, 22)
